Have you met the new superintendent yet? Every week we'll be producing short videos (less than 3 minutes!) hosted by Superintendent Amy Minor. She'll cover a variety of topics surrounding the budget and the impact it has on our students and taxpayers. Colchester School District voters will consider a bond proposal on the November 5, 2024 ballot to address the challenges of maintaining aging school buildings while keeping up with growing enrollment. The tradition continues as a sea of 2024 graduates in their Laker-blue caps and gowns walked out of Colchester High School to cheers from their current educators and crossed Blakely Road to take a trip down memory lane. Colchester Middle School and Malletts Bay School students, faculty, and staff eagerly lined the hallways to high-five and congratulate the soon-to-be graduates. The seniors could be heard pointing out their old classrooms and hugging former teachers. It's a tradition like no other and we've never been more proud to be part of the Colchester community. Congratulations, Lakers! Next stop - graduation! 💙🎓💚 #wearecolchester #classof2024
We collaborate closely with our partners over at the Colchester Police Department and we have been tracking a concerning rise in the number of drivers failing to stop for our school buses with activated red lights. This is frustrating, but it is also incredibly dangerous. So, we got to work! In addition to increasing the police presence on our bus routes, we invite you to enjoy (and share!) this humorous yet informative video, created to draw attention to this critical issue

During semester one, we had our first Arabic class. It was a great success; students learned a lot during this short time. They learned the alphabet, and how to connect them in a cursive script. They learned how to say introduction sentences. They cooked, sang and danced.
Each year, the Colchester High School Cares Club collects food donations to make Thanksgiving baskets for fellow students and their families who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford a Thanksgiving meal. If you have any extra non-perishables in your pantry, we encourage you to bring them into any Colchester school and drop them into the designated bin in the lobby before November 22nd. If you ever doubted how much one box of stuffing or rice could help a fellow Colchester student and their family, take a look at this quick video. Thanks for donating!
Wondering what the buzz is about proficiency-based learning? Colchester High School has been using a proficiency model to teach students for several years now. We find it pushes our students to extend their learning by having a better understanding of what's expected of them and how they can improve. It also helps our faculty align their curriculum and identify the essential skills they want their students to master in each course.
The Colchester School District has a lot of traditions and this one is at the top of the list. Following their first graduation practice, the Colchester High School Class of 2019 put on their cap and gowns and took a stroll down memory lane. With honks and cheers from passing cars, the 163 graduating seniors opened the doors to Malletts Bay School and Colchester Middle School, greeting teachers from their past and the students of tomorrow. Congratulations, Class of 2019! We're so proud of you!

The faculty at CHS shared their favorite moments of the year in an unconventional way.
